About the Journal
History
Revista Master – Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão was established in January 2016 with the aim of disseminating research, extension projects and teaching activities developed at IMEPAC and other institutions, thereby promoting the circulation of scientific and academic knowledge. Since then, it has consolidated its position as a pluralistic and multidisciplinary forum for scientific communication, guided by the democratization of knowledge, diversity of perspectives and dialogue among teaching, research and extension.
The journal's editorial management and the implementation of its policies are the responsibility of the Editors, the Editorial Board and the Publishing Board.
Revista Master is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed scientific journal open to the national and international scientific community and published exclusively in electronic format. It is edited by Centro Universitário IMEPAC.
Themes
Revista Master publishes research across different fields of knowledge, including Natural and Earth Sciences, Biological and Health Sciences, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Applied Social Sciences and Human Sciences.
Focus and Scope
Revista Master – Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão is a pluralistic, multidisciplinary, open-access scientific journal dedicated to disseminating academic and scientific work produced by the national and international scholarly community.
The journal seeks to integrate teaching, research and extension through the publication of work by faculty members, students, graduates and researchers from different institutions, promoting the circulation of knowledge and the exchange of experiences across the fields covered by its scope.
The journal's scope also includes the discussion of contemporary topics and issues related to teaching, research and extension.
Revista Master accepts manuscripts in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Sections
Revista Master is published in annual volumes consisting of two regular issues, which are published separately and made available exclusively in electronic format.
Each regular issue comprises at least ten scientific papers distributed among the following categories: original research articles, review articles, experience reports and case reports.
The journal may also publish supplements, thematic issues and special issues related to scientific events, thematic calls or institutional initiatives, subject to approval by the Editorial Board. The number of papers published in each regular issue, supplement or special issue is determined by the Editorial Board, taking into account editorial quality, publication regularity and the journal's operational capacity.
Publication Frequency
Revista Master is published semiannually and accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
Accepted manuscripts are published collectively in the corresponding issue once the table of contents for each semester has been completed.
Editorial Workflow
The editorial workflow of Revista Master consists of six stages:
Stage 1 – Editorial Screening
Following submission, the editors conduct a preliminary assessment of the manuscript within 30 days. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated for compliance with the journal's editorial policy, Code of Ethics and submission guidelines. Textual similarity is also assessed with the support of the CopySpider software.
Manuscripts approved at this stage are forwarded to ad hoc reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.
Stage 2 – Peer Review
Manuscripts approved during editorial screening are evaluated by at least two reviewers selected according to their expertise and/or affinity with the subject matter of the manuscript.
Revista Master adopts a double-blind peer review system, in which reviewers do not have access to the authors' identities and authors do not have access to the reviewers' identities.
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on criteria including conceptual rigor, academic and scientific relevance, originality and clarity of presentation. When revisions are required, the requested changes must be clearly and adequately justified, with the relevant sections, paragraphs and/or pages identified whenever applicable.
The expected timeframe for this stage is twenty days, although the deadline may be extended.
Stage 3 – Manuscript Revision by the Authors
The reviewers' comments are forwarded to the authors, who must make the requested revisions, when applicable, within the timeframe established by the editors, typically 60 days.
Revista Master reserves the right to reject manuscripts when the requested revisions are not submitted within the established deadline.
Stage 4 – Acceptance for Publication
Upon receipt of the revised version, the editors verify whether the changes requested by the reviewers have been adequately incorporated into the manuscript.
Once all editorial requirements have been met, the manuscript is accepted for publication and assigned to a forthcoming issue of the journal.
Stage 5 – Pre-publication Review
Accepted manuscripts undergo linguistic and editorial review. The revised version is then submitted to the authors for approval prior to publication.
If the authors do not respond to the reviewers' suggestions within the established timeframe, the suggested changes will be considered accepted.
Stage 6 – Publication
The manuscript is published on the Revista Master website.
The estimated period between submission and publication is three to six months, although this timeframe may vary depending on the time required for peer review, revision and manuscript preparation.
Responsibilities
All members of the editorial team, authors and reviewers must act in accordance with the Revista Master Code of Ethics and editorial policies.
Editors
The Editors are responsible for managing the editorial process and safeguarding the scientific quality and integrity of the journal's publications.
They are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts comply with the journal's editorial guidelines, editorial policy and focus and scope. They must also ensure fair and impartial treatment of all submissions, preserve the confidentiality of the review process and protect authors' rights and intellectual property.
Publishing Board
The Publishing Board assists the Editors in implementing the journal's editorial policy and contributes to ensuring compliance with the deadlines established for manuscript evaluation.
Authors
Authors are responsible for responding to communications from the Editors, identifying their contributions to the preparation of the manuscript, making research data available when requested and when applicable, subject to relevant ethical and legal requirements, and promptly informing the journal of any errors or inaccuracies identified in their published or submitted work.
Authors are responsible for the quality and accuracy of the English abstract submitted to the journal and must provide documentation confirming that it has been reviewed by a translator, as established in the Author Guidelines.
For research involving human participants, authors must strictly comply with the ethical requirements described in the Revista Master Author Guidelines.
Reviewers
Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts impartially and provide well-founded assessments based on conceptual rigor, academic and scientific relevance, originality and clarity of presentation.
When revisions are required, recommendations must be presented clearly and objectively, with the relevant sections, paragraphs and/or pages identified whenever applicable.
Reviewers must preserve the confidentiality of all information to which they have access during the review process.
Open Access Policy
Revista Master provides immediate open access to all its content with the aim of expanding the dissemination, circulation and accessibility of scientific knowledge.
This policy seeks to reduce barriers to access to scientific information and contribute to the democratization of knowledge.
Revista Master does not charge article publication fees.
Articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
Intellectual Property
Authors retain the copyright to their published articles and grant Revista Master the right of first publication and public communication of the content under the terms of the Creative Commons license adopted by the journal.
The opinions expressed in published articles are the sole responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Revista Master editorial team.
