Abstract

Objective: Urinary incontinence represents a public health problem that needs to be studied more deeply, since it affects the quality of life of women, leading to psychological alterations, resulting from low self-esteem, social and family inhibition. It is believed that this work may contribute significantly to the diagnosis and interventions for the prevention and treatment of Urinary Incontinence in women. Methods: This is a literature review, with a survey of the articles in the literature in the databases: Scielo, Pubmed. Conclusion: Because it is a prevalent problem in the world population, with significant impact on women's quality of life, urinary incontinence (UI) cannot be neglected and it is necessary to identify the problem and its risk factors. This review allowed us to identify obesity as an important risk factor for UI in women. Thus, this review allowed us to identify significant risk factors with UI in women, and it is expected to increase self-esteem and improve social interaction, resulting in a better quality of life for these women.
