Abstract

Cervical cancer (CCU) represents a significant public health challenge, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where access to early diagnosis is limited. This study aimed to review recent literature on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnosing precancerous cervical lesions, assessing its effectiveness and applicability. An integrative review was conducted using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases, selecting studies published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that technologies based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) achieve accuracy above 90%, outperforming conventional colposcopy. Solutions such as the EVA colposcope and Smartphone-VIA system stand out for enabling remote diagnoses in areas with limited infrastructure. Hybrid models that combine imaging with clinical and laboratory data provide even greater accuracy. It is concluded that AI has the potential to expand access, reduce unnecessary interventions, and contribute to the elimination of cervical cancer by 2030, as proposed by the WHO.
