Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the healthcare sector, especially in the remote monitoring of patients (MRP) with chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular problems. improving efficiency. The Internet of Medical Things (IoT) expands the collection of biological and environmental data, but faces ethical and regulatory challenges, such as privacy, security and interoperability. This study analyzes the impact of AI on chronic disease management, identifying technologies, benefits and gaps. METHODOLOGY: An integrative literature review was carried out on the PubMed, Scopus and Scielo databases, using the keywords “Artificial Intelligence”, “Chronic Disease” and “Remote Monitoring”. Articles were included from 2018 to 2025, in English, Portuguese or Spanish, focused on the use of AI in monitoring chronic diseases. Studies without access to the full text or outside the time frame were excluded. The analysis sought to answer how AI is applied, its benefits, challenges and gaps. RESULTS: AI in MRP improves continuous data collection, enabling early diagnoses, such as acute myocardial infarction (90.5% accuracy in ECGs) and atrial fibrillation (84% positive predictive value). Wearable devices and platforms such as Babylon Health promote proactive and personalized care. However, challenges include integration with medical records, privacy and algorithmic biases. CONCLUSIONS: AI in MRP is revolutionizing chronic disease care, offering precision and personalization. Despite advances, issues such as data security and interoperability persist. Future studies should focus on clinical validation and inclusion to ensure equity and sustainability.
