Publication Ethics and Best Practices

Revista Master – Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão adopts principles of ethics, integrity, transparency and responsibility at all stages of the editorial process.

The journal's publication ethics and best-practice policies apply to authors, editors, members of the editorial boards and reviewers, with the aim of ensuring the scientific integrity of manuscripts submitted, reviewed and published by the journal.

Authorship and Contribution

Authorship must be attributed exclusively to individuals who have made a relevant contribution to the conception, development, analysis or writing of the work, who have approved the final version of the manuscript and who assume responsibility for the published content.

Contributions that do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with the consent of the individuals mentioned.

Changes in authorship after submission, including the addition or removal of authors or changes in the order of authorship, will only be considered before publication and must be duly justified, approved by all authors and authorized by the editors of Revista Master. After publication, changes in authorship will not be made, except in exceptional circumstances that are duly justified and evaluated by the editors.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors and reviewers must disclose any personal, professional, academic, institutional or financial conflict of interest that may influence, or appear to influence, the submission, review or editorial decision-making process.

At the time of submission, authors must declare whether any conflicts of interest related to the manuscript exist.

Reviewers and editors who identify a conflict of interest that may compromise their impartiality must disclose the situation and withdraw from the corresponding review or editorial decision.

Plagiarism and Other Forms of Misconduct

Revista Master does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, image manipulation, improper citation manipulation or any other practice that compromises the scientific integrity of the manuscript.

Submitted manuscripts may be analyzed using textual similarity-checking tools. Any identified similarities will be evaluated by the editors, taking into account their nature, extent and context.

When there are indications of scientific misconduct, Revista Master may request explanations and supporting documents from the authors and take appropriate editorial measures according to the seriousness of the situation.

Corrections, Errata and Retractions

Revista Master may publish corrections, errata or retractions when errors or problems are identified that compromise, in whole or in part, the accuracy, integrity or reliability of a published work.

The need for a correction, erratum or retraction will be assessed by the editors according to the nature and seriousness of the identified problem.

Whenever applicable, the action taken will be presented transparently and linked to the original publication.

Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit questions or appeals concerning editorial decisions, provided that they are properly justified and sent to Revista Master through its official contact channels.

Requests will be reviewed impartially by the editors, taking into consideration the reviewers' reports, the journal's editorial policies and the arguments presented by the authors.

When necessary, Revista Master may request an additional review to support the editorial decision.

Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers must preserve the confidentiality of all information related to manuscripts submitted to Revista Master.

Manuscripts, data, documents and other information received during the editorial process must not be used for personal benefit, shared with third parties or disclosed without authorization, except when necessary for the conduct of the editorial review process.

The obligation of confidentiality remains in effect even after the review process has been completed.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Revista Master permits the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence tools as supporting resources, provided that their use is transparent and does not replace the authors' intellectual responsibility.

Artificial intelligence tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts.

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity and ethical appropriateness of the submitted content, including when artificial intelligence tools have been used.

When the use of such tools has made a relevant contribution to the preparation, revision, analysis or production of manuscript content, this use must be transparently disclosed by the authors.

The use of artificial intelligence to fabricate or falsify data, references, results, images or any other scientific information is prohibited.

Editors and reviewers must preserve manuscript confidentiality and must not upload confidential texts, data or documents to publicly available artificial intelligence tools when doing so may result in the sharing of content with third parties.

Data, Transparency and Reproducibility

Authors must present methods, procedures, analyses and results clearly and in sufficient detail to allow the study to be understood and, when applicable, reproduced.

The data supporting the results presented in the manuscript must be appropriately preserved by the authors and may be requested by editors or reviewers when necessary to assess the scientific integrity of the manuscript, subject to applicable ethical, legal and confidentiality requirements.

Authors must disclose any restrictions on access to or sharing of data when such restrictions arise from ethical, legal or contractual requirements or from the need to protect research participants.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants will only be considered for publication if it has been previously submitted to and approved by a Research Ethics Committee (Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa – CEP), in accordance with applicable ethical standards.

The manuscript must provide the approval number issued by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP), and Revista Master may request the corresponding supporting document during the editorial process.

Manuscripts resulting from research involving human participants that has not been previously submitted to and approved by a Research Ethics Committee will not be accepted for publication.

For research involving animals, approval by the Animal Use Ethics Committee (Comissão de Ética no Uso de Animais – CEUA) must be provided when applicable, in accordance with current ethical standards.

Intellectual Property and Use of Third-Party Materials

Authors must respect copyright and other intellectual property rights related to the content used in the manuscript.

Figures, tables, images or other previously published materials may only be reproduced when their use is permitted by the applicable license or when the necessary permission has been obtained from the copyright holder.

Authors are responsible for obtaining and providing, when requested, the permissions required for the reproduction of copyright-protected materials.

Responsibilities of Authors, Reviewers and Editors

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity and truthfulness of the information presented in their manuscripts, as well as for compliance with applicable ethical, editorial and legal requirements.

Reviewers must provide impartial, well-founded and confidential assessments, disclose any conflicts of interest and refrain from reviewing a manuscript when their impartiality may be compromised.

Editors are responsible for conducting the editorial process ethically and transparently, preserving manuscript confidentiality, managing conflicts of interest and making editorial decisions based on scientific and editorial criteria.

Post-Publication Discussion

Revista Master receives and reviews communications concerning published works, including questions, requests for clarification or reports of possible errors or concerns regarding scientific integrity.

Such communications must be properly substantiated and will be reviewed by the editors. When necessary, the authors may be consulted and additional documents or clarification may be requested.

If relevant errors or problems are identified after publication, Revista Master may take the appropriate editorial measures, including correction, erratum or retraction, according to the nature and seriousness of the issue.
