Abstract

Introduction: Burnout Syndrome (BS) is characterized by three aspects: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced professional achievement. Objective: To describe the profile of medical students and its association with Burnout Syndrome. Methodology: This is an original, observational and descriptive cross-sectional prevalence study, quantitative. It will be carried out in a private medical school in a city of Goiás, with students from the 1st to the 8th period, during the year 2022. Two questionnaires were applied through the electronic platform Google Forms, being a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey (MBI-SS), specific version for students. Results and Discussion: Of the 106 students interviewed, most of them women (72.60%), aged between 18 and 24 years old (47.26%), single (68.90%), without children (75.5%), with at least one degree (51.91%). A total of 75.45% practiced some activity in their leisure time and 34.55% considered their sleep regular. Regarding the MBI-SS, the analyzes showed no significant difference between men and women regarding the subscales emotional exhaustion, disbelief and professional effectiveness, as well as in the comparisons between the initial and final periods. Those who have children or who are married scored higher on exhaustion. Conclusion: This study has limitations, as it concerns a small group and cannot be generalized. Given the relevance of the subject, further studies are suggested
