Abstract

In the world, about 120 million women aim to avoid pregnancy, and in Brazil it is the duty of the State to promote technical and scientific information to ensure family planning and, consequently, contraception. In this sense, the present study aims is to analyze the profile of users of combined oral contraceptive pills (OCP) and intrauterine devices (IUD), based on age, color or race, level of education (schooling and education), household situation, monthly income per capita, and contraceptive method used. This is an observational, analytical cross-sectional study, with analysis of the epidemiological profile through data collection by the IBGE system of automatic retrieval (SIDRA). The focus of the discussion is the understanding of the influence of age, education, and socioeconomic profile of users on the use and adherence to methods. Results and analyzes were insufficient due to lack of data on the base platform. The need to repeat the research at an opportune moment is concluded.
